HOSFA and St. Francis Community Health Centre IV extend healthcare services to over 200 people in Kyengeza
Hope Sharing Family Association (HOSFA), through St. Francis Community Health Centre IV and Mother Benedicta Charity Fund, successfully participated in the Elderly Day Celebration held at St. Ambrose Parish, Kyengeza, where over 200 community members, majority of whom were elderly persons, benefited from free medical services, health education, counselling, and treatment.
The activity was part of HOSFA's continued commitment to its vision and mission of sharing hope with vulnerable populations by promoting access to quality healthcare, disease prevention, and improved wellbeing among communities. The outreach also formed part of St. Francis Community Health Centre IV's marketing and community engagement strategy aimed at creating awareness about the wide range of healthcare services offered at the facility and bringing services closer to the people.
Recognizing that elderly persons are more vulnerable to chronic illnesses and age-related health challenges, our medical team provided comprehensive care
Regular monitoring to detect and manage hypertension early
Blood sugar testing to identify and manage diabetes
One-on-one assessments with qualified healthcare professionals
Oral health examinations and basic dental care
Counseling on disease prevention and healthy living
Medication and treatment for identified conditions
Guidance for patients requiring further specialized management
Practical advice on healthy living and disease prevention
The outreach provided an opportunity for elderly persons and other community members to understand the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection of diseases
During the medical assessments, several participants were identified with chronic health conditions. A significant finding from the exercise was that some participants were not aware that they were living with these conditions. Through the screening services provided, they were able to understand their health status and received appropriate counselling on treatment, lifestyle changes, and the importance of continued medical follow-up.
The findings emphasized the importance of regular community health screening, especially among elderly persons who may have silent conditions that progress without noticeable symptoms.
One of the key highlights of the event was the interactive health education session conducted by the St. Francis Community Health Centre IV healthcare team
The elderly participants actively participated by asking questions and sharing their health experiences. The interactive discussions enabled the healthcare team to address individual concerns and provide practical guidance.
The outreach created awareness about the comprehensive healthcare services available at our facility

The elderly persons and community members expressed their gratitude for the healthcare services brought to their doorstep
Many participants appreciated the decision to bring healthcare services closer to them, noting that such initiatives reduce barriers to accessing medical care, especially for elderly persons who may face challenges travelling long distances to health facilities.
They commended the compassionate care provided by the healthcare team and encouraged HOSFA to continue organizing similar community outreach activities. Through such community engagements, HOSFA continues to ensure that people understand where and when to seek quality healthcare services while strengthening the relationship between the health facility and the communities it serves.
